This is an interesting opinion piece I came across in the NY Times from the past week or two.
It discusses the fact that Barack Obama has renounced Islam, embraced the Christian faith and how this will be seen through the eyes of the Muslim world if he is elected president.

I think it was Obama’s father who was Muslim. So technically, if he isn’t a Muslim himself, then technically he is committing the crime of apostasy (being an apostate, or the crime of changing one’s religion) a crime punishable by death under Sharia law. But for reals everyone, Barack Obama is Christian, really, really, really Christian. His new “spiritual advisor” is my old friend, Jim Wallis, a liberal evangelical minister. If you’re interested in Wallis, search for “Jim Wallis daily show” and you’ll find his appearances. He’s actually quite witty.
