This is an interesting idea, but why not just cut out the middle man (batteries for storage and long and expensive cables for transmitting electricity) and attach sails to vehicles? I mean, yeah, sure that means you have to wait for a gust of wind in order to accelerate, and yes, bridges and tunnels will have to be altogether replaced or modified to allow the passage of 30′ tall cars, but we could wean ourselves off foreign oil totally!
Way to go, traditionalist! Why not redesign the sail to fit around our existing infrastructure? You non-engineers really have a hard time solving problems, don’t you? Heh heh.
