I’m creating a new ongoing topic for the skunk.
The Loser of the year award. I propose that the participants of the skunk give us nominations for the loser of the year. What you have to do is list the persons name and why they should be nominated loser of the year.
My nomination goes to Dave Schnase. He is an “appeals referee” for the Job Service of North Dakota. This guy is a total joke, and represents exactly what is wrong with our system.
This guy in a nutshell - Rewards a worthless employee for being worthless.
Basically, if you have an employee who refuses to learn new computer programs or other essential job tasks, doesn’t do their job and literally costs your business money through their incompetency, you cannot “let them go”, even if you have offered them other positions so you can get the work done that needs to be done. If you do, and they go to ND job service and apply for unemployment, they will get it - that is if they are a North Dakotan, and they have Dave Schnase as an appeals referee.
So, Dave Schnase it is my opinion, You are a true loser and a detriment to small businesses everywhere in ND.
Thanks a lot Job service of ND for making everyone else support other losers, it couldn’t be more obvious that you couldn’t care less about the small businesses of this state - of course I take this all back, if your reasoning is that you can’t let Dave Schnase go becuase you are afraid of paying unemployment for him or the slew of other losers you employ who support this type of action.
And for the record, I’m not saying everyone who works for ND Job Service is a loser.

This one flat out pisses me off.
Further proof of how ridiculous the ND unemployment system is:
“North Dakota Century Code ยง52-06-01(3)(a) allows an unskilled worker, otherwise entitled to unemployment compensation, to acquire a skill during periods of unemployment without loss of benefits regardless of the existence of other unskilled employment opportunities”
This literally means that they can go to a vocational college and get unemployment compensation while they are there!!
The business has to pay the unemployment - NOT the state.
Total B.S. This was an actual law suit and the plaintiff won.

So let me get this strait. I own my own business. I hire Joe Blow to do A, B and C. now sometime in the future i need him to learn D which involves computers. Joe Blow does not know how to do task D and doesn’t learn. So if I fire him I have to pay his unemployment? Is that what is going on here?
It isn’t quite clear where Schnase comes into the picture to me. Is he the one that decides if the employess gets unemployment payment from me? I imagine this must be part of state law or something. If that is the case why not blame the lawmakers rather than this guy thats just doing his job. A lot of people probably defend and try to help worse people (lawyers maybe).

The thing with good ol’ Schnasey boy is this - he is the one that decides where the case falls - IF - if it actually falls within the mandates of the law. In other words when it isn’t cut and dried. He listens to both sides and because the worthless employee lies about what actually happened - He has to decide what action will be taken. His interpretation of the case is what matters - he decides.
You will just have to take my word for it I guess - the guy is a loser and deserves the award.
Vick deserves much worse.

This one is for you ND job service appeals referee guy, for making it possible for losers like yourself to remain losers and collect money for it. Keep up the good work Dave Schnase appeals referee loser guy!

I should say that I wish no harm upon Dave Schnase or anyone at ND job service, hopefully he is just doing what he thinks is right.
Not that I believe he has much of the ability to think, but like I said, hopefully it is what he actually believes is right.
He just happens to be a Loser, a loser that deserves nothing more than the title “Loser of the year”.

I vote for the American Public as loser of the year. Not because we are losers by OUR actions, but because of the actions and inactions of the US Congress. They have accomplished nothing of substance of late, and they are bitching about the Executive branch doing too much when it is their own fault because they gave him the power to do just that! So while we all discover that “W” is the devil and all war is wrong (even though this one really is), we can cover our eyes from the fact that the reason we are losers is our own elected representatives in Congress, the most overpaid, underworked bunch of welfare bums ever to come down the pike (with a few notable exceptions).
Here’s to you, Mr. or Mrs. Congressman, for not only taking away our constitutional rights, but for giving yourself a raise (on our dime)while doing it!
