Same shit, different day.
What in the hell do you all think the $150 million (raised in September) goes for, pork rinds? Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
This is just an indicator of underlying problems. Specifically two of them:
1. Only two political parties have the stage. They have a neat little toy that everyone wants, but they have figured out how to keep it to themselves. In other words, they don’t want to risk losing their power to a bunch of Ron Paulers or Greens. Too bad, because they are going to.
2. The media is actually in control. They print/show whatever they want, nothing else. Most members of the press, when confronted, will tell you they are objective, unbiased, etc., which is bullshit. We are all biased. Furthermore, some of us (and some of them) will forgo suppressing bias in order to do what we want. For example, what I am doing here on the Skunk. Or what the press is doing with the clothing thing. Or Obama’s ties to Chicago-based foreign money donors. Or ignoring Biden’s comments about {pick topic}. Or the fact that CONGRESS got us into the current Iraq military conflict by PASSING THE BUCK to the President, which they have NO RIGHT to do. Or the fact that the media don’t bother to publish things like the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, or any of the Federalist Papers, or anything else that speaks of PRINCIPLE, rather than whim.
Our society is so caught up in the here and now that we have lost sight of principle. And folks would rather vote themselves a $600 check than face the fact that our government has FUCKED us. The current congress is a piece of shit because of the assholes who “represent” us. And the media aren’t saying anything because they don’t want to. Period.
Yes, that is ridiculous.
I wonder who they will donate the clothes to?
Like some homeless person wants a $3,000 pant suit…?
They probably “donate” it to an organization similar to that of the Clintons. A.K.A donate back to self or only because it is a tax write off.
Anyway, it is just further support of how disgusting this whole process has become. I have mentioned this in other places, and I will ask it again.
When did the race for presidency start being held in the same or less regard as a football game or boxing match?
People taking sides, watching their candidate on TV, waiting for whatever the media is going to make a big deal about today so they can point a finger. We are being played here folks.
$5 bucks says if you go to a bar when they announce who has won the presidency you will see people slapping high fives and cheering like their team just won the superbowl.
By the way, as fucked up as the $150,00 on her wardrobe and makeup is, don’t think for a second that Obama, Biden and McCain don’t have a closet full of clothes that cost more than the average Americans house.
I would bet they all get their makeup done as well for lots of $ and how much are those haircuts?
It is the same thing as marketing. Gotta do what it takes to make your party look good.
At least one thing that can probably be said about their wardrobes is that they paid for them with their own money, but then again what’s the difference? This whole process is one big waste of money.
Again, we see what the media wants us to see.
I used to be very in favor of more political parties but now I’m not so sure. Think about it: Say there are 3 or 4 parties vying for power. The winner only needs 30%-40% of the votes and the rest of the country is pissed off. It would create an even more cynical and jaded public. I’m not saying the current system isn’t inherently flawed but in the immortal words of George Carlin, maybe it’s the public that sucks. Maybe our leaders are the best we can do. And that’s a terrifying thought…
Pman,
In regard to the multiple party comment -
For some reason I hadn’t ever thought of it like that before. Good point.
As far as the public in general, this quote comes to mind.
“Never underestimate the stupidity of the general public”.
